About Me

Hello! My name is Marianne Salina and I am a writer living in Spokane, WA.

I'm glad you've stopped by, and in case you're curious, here's a bit of my story:

I grew up in Spokane and moved to the Bay Area for college (go Banana Slugs!), graduated in 2004, and spent some time living in San Francisco before moving back to the PNW for graduate school. I received my MFA in Fiction from Eastern Washington University in 2011, and chose to stay in this fine city after the program was over, because Spokane felt and continues to feel like an essential part of my story.

My move back home has been a beautiful, wild journey, taking me into classrooms both as student and teacher, bringing me closer to family, revealing new friendships and connections, and encouraging me to seek balance and creativity in each moment.

This space is also inspired by my journey, as well as the idea that the stories we share with each other are comprised of thoughtfully chosen details--elements we've sifted and selected, before revealing and dispersing. As I write, create, explore, cook, thrift, and build a home, I'm excited to bring my experiences and discoveries here. I hope you'll share your thoughts, ideas, and inspiration here too. Thanks for stopping by!
